Batesville Community Rink, Arkansas
The Challenge
In the fall of 2014, the small community of Batesville, Arkansas was tasked with the challenge of coming up with a way to revitalize their riverfront and not only bring more people to the area but to also provide a family-friendly recreational activity that could be enjoyed by the residents of all ages! It had to be unique, something different that the community would be excited about, but also fit within their budget and last for many years to come.

The Solution
Upon brainstorming the idea of having a skating rink, they decided that synthetic ice would be the best way to go due to the longevity, ease of maintenance, and affordability. Their product research led them to SmartRink who quickly offered to provide an on-site demo that impressed the committee leading this project. Within a few weeks, SmartRink was back on site at the riverfront setting up their new 40ft x 55ft synthetic ice rink!
The Result
Since opening their SmartRink in November of 2014, they have since expanded the synthetic ice surface two more times, added a new landing deck, survived a devastating flood, built a skate house and a hot chocolate station! Additionally, two other neighboring communities have now added synthetic ice of their own after seeing the success of the Batesville community rink. But the real success is in the happy, smiling faces of the community residents as they skate under the stars by the riverfront during the winter months.
